Spectres in the Forest

 The following poem was written for alexprompts x nymphswriting September Event on Tumblr, the prompt being “spectres in the forest.” I don’t write poetry all the time, but I liked the chant-like aspect of the poem.

there are spectres in the forest
and they do as they please.

there are spectres in the forest
spirits that cackle and screech

there are spectres in the forest
ghouls that will pull out your teeth

there are spectres in the forest
and it doesn’t mean a thing to me.
